While not up to the quality or enjoyment of World War Z: An Oral History of the Zombie War which is on my list of "All Time Favorite" novels, this book can hold its decaying head up high and proudly moan that it is the SECOND BEST ZOMBIE BOOK I HAVE EVER READ. Written in "authentic" journal style (complete with misspelled words), this book has a gritty, realistic feel to it and a tight plot that keeps the tension up at a good clip. Short, fast and enjoyable.

This was, in general, a fairly good zombie tale, with plenty of suspense.One thing I found distracting was the editing. Rating: 3.5The thing that bugged me about this book is that it is advertised as a journal, but if that is the intent it is poorly done. This journal explains way too many things that the writer would know and is way too detailed, it keeps telling us things you would never write in a journal. It isn't written like a journal would be. Luckily, I did like most of the story line and really got invested in the characters Also, the end kinda ruined it a bit for me. To me it felt random and rushed.

This was a simple story, told in the style of a soldier's journal as he deals with surviving in the zombie apocalypse.
