The Nightbloods and Seers have many buried secrets. Some of those secrets are deadly. Beneath the light of a full moon, the coven is dancing. They are dancing as they await another Awakening, a dream that defines every witch’s destiny. It doesn’t matter that the coven is cheering and anticipating her turn into womanhood, because Calli doesn’t want any of it. She doesn’t want to see the face of the hired hand Isaiah, nor does she desire the pursuits of a very determined Nightblood as she runs from a future with the Ordinary help. She knows that regardless of whether she taps into forbidden magic or not, an Awakening is rumored to hold ultimate power over the Seer who dreams it. While the other Seers her age are given to their parties, their enchantments, and the lust of Nightblood suitors, Calli must choose how she'll endure the worst of her visions. There may be a way to survive her sleep, but she's not sure she can defeat the truth that will find her when she’s wide awake. Does real love even stand a chance against the darkest of magic?

The Short Life of Sparrows is a awesome read, I loved it, Loved it.I fell in love with the characters and the world that Emm Cole created fairly early on, I was hooked. I found myself looking forward to any free time I had so I would get a chance to read a few chapters. The Short Life of Sparrows has it all action, friendship, love, loss, pain, magic, it really does have everything. This book came highly recommended to me from my bestie, she told me that it was/is right up my alley, as there are**The author provided a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. No other favors were exchanged.**Their song might be brief, but how greedy would we be to ask for more? No, you cannot keep a sparrow. You can only hope that as they fly away, they take a little bit of you with them.God, I am in pieces right now. In absolute shambles, I tell you. And I feel no shame in admitting this to anyone. Disclaimer: The last book I read that made me cry was TFiOS. That was back in March 2014.
This book was given to me by the author for an honest review. Beautiful prose. Wonderful setting. Tim Burton feel sceneries and a brand new twist. There are hundreds of fiction about witches and warlocks that is not something new. But what if you took those and made a different concept of them? Like if you added new ingredients to a very old recipe and somehow it worked very well. This is what the author managed to make: she gave us the Seers and the Nightbloods who make magic and live in a very

What a fucking stunning book. I don't normally curse in reviews, but I can't properly express my deep and unwavering adoration for The Short Life of Sparrows any other way. It was beautifully written. I feel like I've known the characters for years. The plot was interesting and unexpected. I basically fell in love after the first sentence, and I think fantasy fans and romance fans alike will feel the same way. I can't wait to read more from the author, and if there's ever a sequel, I'll be the
Generally, this sort of teen/YA paranormal genre doesn't appeal to me, but I liked the poetic title and the gorgeous cover, so I gave it a chance. It starts out with a flash and peters out until near the end. But the characters are fleshed out and the world building is done pretty well. I'm so glad there was no love triangle in this one. I'm not a fan of the alternating first person POV, but this might be because I listened to it.Pamela Lorence does a really great job narrating. The female
I was given this book by the Author in exchange for and honest review. Beautiful and truly magical work! Emm Cole is a truly creative and whimsical writer with a good splash of realism and heartfelt appreciation for the coming together of two worlds. I loved how she brought these two different people together and made them work and showed them how they weren't so different in end. I cried at the end it was so heartbreaking and sad. Isaiah is a good man and never asked to be treated so harshly in
Poor writing, boring characters, and inane world building, unfortunately none of which are enough to cover the fact that the plot is little more than a series of sexual encounters. The reader is endlessly told what their community is like but never any good reasons why. I listened to the audiobook and without even reading a physical copy I could tell this is some self-published Amazon freebie, verified by the fact that so many reviews mention a ton of spelling and grammar errors in their ebooks.
